There will be no teachers strike for four years, KNUT boss Wilson Sossion says.
According to Sossion, there will be no need for strikes thanks to the deal reached between the Teachers Service Commision TSC and unions over a structured pay increase for teachers.
Addressing over 7,000 head teachers during the official opening of the 41st Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association conference, Sossion said teachers were happy with the agreement that adequately takes care of their welfare.
” There are no strikes for the next four years because teachers are very happy with this new deal,” he said.
Speaking to News24 on phone, Sossion stated that the deal was worth the wait for teachers.
” We thank the TSC for this agreement, which is the first ever. This CBA protects the interests of teachers and will guarantee a productive, peaceful four years,” he said.
” The deal has been long in waiting but we are finally glad to say we are successful,” he added.
Teachers have not failed to go on strike in every one of the last four years, but with the new deal, it seems teachers will live happily for the coming days.
