MPs will vote again in a bid to move the General Elections from August to December.
The move has been granted after speaker Justin Muturi said that the house deserved another vote to decide if the motion can move to its third reading.
The previous trial by MPs failed to get the constitutional threshold needed to push it through.
Only 216 of the required 233 MPs voted for the amendment last time out, 17 short of the required number.
Standing Orders state that if those opposed to a Bill or a motion requiring a two-thirds majority are not more than a third, the Speaker can call for a fresh vote.
“It therefore means that the bill having not reached the required threshold of 233 members to vote in the affirmative is lost. So the Bill is defeated at the second reading,” he said.
Those for the amendment say that they want it to mode from the second Tuesday if August to the third Monday of December as it will disrupt examinations in the country and also disrupt the national budget.
Those against, say that it will be a hindrance to the composition of th Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC whose mandate expires November 2017.
