Kenya: Man Kills Colleague Over Radio Worth KES.3K

Police have arrested a bodabda rider who allegedly killed his colleague over a motorcycle radio worth KES.3,000 in Kiganjo area Nyeri County.

The man is said to have stabbed the deceased to death with a knife.

Members of the public baying for his blood pelted stones to police officers who intervened, leaving two officers with injuries.

Police were forced to shoot in the air and also lob teargas to disperse the members of the public who were determined to lynch the suspect.

Witnesses said the suspect identified as Danford Kabange Mwangi, confronted his fellow rider, Emmanuel Hamisi, at night demanding to know why he had not returned his radio.

A scuffle ensued between the two men before the suspect drew a knife and stabbed the deceased on the chest.

He later managed to escape and hid in a nearby house, where he locked himself up until police officers arrived to rescue him.

Hamisi was pronounced dead on arrival at Nyeri County Referral Hospital where he was rushed for treatment.

Kieni East OCPD Michael Mbaruku said the suspect will be arraigned in court for trial adding that police were in efforts of collecting evidence to nail him
