CORD leader Raila Odinga has met Luhya leaders though the absence of Ababu Namwamba was clear for all to see.
Raila met the leaders at his offices in Nairobi to allay fears that they are ready to quit the party following a number of internal problems in recent times.
The group led by Shinyalu MP Silvance Anami included Busia Woman Representative Florence Mutua, Vihiga Woman Representative Dorcas kedogo, Matayos MP Godfrey Odanga and Lurambi MP Raphael Otaalo.
They spoke to Raila for three hours at his offices in Capitol Hill.
However, the absence of ODM Secretary General Ababu Namwamba and party vice chairperson Paul Otuoma, who spoke out harshly about the party’s leadership, was clear as the light of day.
Both were not invited, sources told News24.
” It was felt that it was better the meeting take place without them first then they be invited later,” the source stated.
Raila insisted during the meeting that the Luhya community represents one of his biggest support bases and that he is not ready to lose it.
Ababu and Otuoma blamed Raila for using them as second rate politicians despite their strong positions within party ranks.
