Kenya: Over 70 Students Charged With Arson

Over 70 students have been so far charged over arson in various schools around the country.

In Nakuru, 28 students from Rongai Boys High School were arraigned Monday for attempting to burn their school on July 22. They denied the charge and were released on KES 50,000 bond each, Standard reports.

In Murang’a, 32 others from Gaturi Girls, St Paul Boys and Dr Gitau Secondary schools were charged and released on KES 50,000 bond.

Two boys from Mweru High school in Nyeri were arrested after they were caught buying petrol in a suspected plot to burn school, Daily Nation reports.

A teacher at Kiaguthu Boys was also charged and released on KES 50,000 bond for sending offensive message on Whatsapp.
