Actress Kate Henshaw has come under heavy criticism on social media for suggesting that violent attacks on Nigerians in Johannesburg are self-inflicted.
The re-emergence of xenophobic attacks in South Africa has been hotly debated in Nigeria this week. It’s been trending on social media, wit many Nigerian users calling for a boycott of South African businesses.
Dozens of people were arrested on Monday after rioters looted shops and torched vehicles.
Reacting to the widely condemned violence, Ms Henshaw wrote “We are responsible for how people treat us” on Twitter.

But, not everyone sides with her as the comment has sparked outrage among Nigerians on Twitter.
