Kanye West Not Running For President in 2024

According to his personal attorney, Bruce Marks, the musician formerly known as Kanye West will not oppose President Joe Biden next November, following a failed long-shot attempt for the White House in 2020.

According to Marks, “he’s not a candidate for office in 2024.”

According to a filing with the Federal Election Commission that details spending from January to September of this year, Ye’s Kanye 2020 political committee has set aside $0 for primaries in all 50 states. Kanye 2020 did not raise any funds during the most recent reporting period and has less than $25,000 cash on hand, according to sources.

Representatives for Ye did not reply immediately to EW’s request for comment on Thursday.

In his first run for president, Ye was never considered a genuine contender, only appearing on the ballot in 12 states as a third-party candidate. He has mainly avoided the spotlight in recent months as a result of the backlash from a series of antisemitic remarks and unpredictable behavior, but he is allegedly looking for a new record.

Ye’s disturbing hate speech included praising Hitler to Alex Jones and being temporarily banned from Twitter (now known as X) for displaying a swastika.

Such behavior prompted Adidas and other businesses to cut connections with him at the end of 2022, with the shoemaker publishing a statement that stated, “Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism or any other type of hate speech.” Ye’s recent remarks and actions are reprehensible, nasty, and dangerous, and they go against the company’s ideals of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect, and justice.”

An unnamed person close to West told Rolling Stone that the door isn’t completely shut, but “there’s no plan to do [run for president]… There is no campaign structure or anything else in place.” They described West’s chances of mounting a campaign as “beyond remote.”

West has not made any public comments about running for office in 2024.
