KANU secretary general, Nick Salat now wants President Uhuru Kenyatta and CORD leader Raila Odinga to quit the 2017 presidential race and back KANU’s Gideon Moi.
Salat said that both Uhuru and Raila are polarizing the country and including them on the 2017 presidential ballot paper will divide the country even further.
He argued that for the country to be peaceful and united, both the Odinga and Kenyatta families must exit the Kenyan politics.
Speaking Thursday in Rongai town, Salat said that the presence of both Uhuru and Raila in the 2017 campaigns will polarize the country and raise political temperatures something he said could plunge the nation into chaos.
“The President and the Cord leader are people who have divided this country along tribal and party lines and their presence in the 2017 elections will make things worse,” said Salat.
“If they truly love this nation, then the best they can do is to quit the race and back Gideon Moi because he is not as divisive,” he said.
He added that both Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga will not accept to lose the 2017 polls and that will be the start of real trouble in Kenya.
“The incumbent President cannot afford or accept to lose in 2017 and being his last chance, the CORD leader Raila Odinga will also not accept defeat and that will create a standoff worse than the one we witnessed in 2007/2008,” he said.
Salat said that Gideon Moi is the only sober person who can unite the nation beyond party and tribal lines.
