The Israeli army on Wednesday arrested an Ethiopian domestic worker during her attempt to cross the border into the occupied Shebaa Farms, Lebanon’s National News Agency reported.
“She was returned to the Lebanese side via the Berket al-Naqqar area west of Shebaa after which she was arrested by the Lebanese army for interrogation,” NNA added.
Tensions have been high along the Lebanese-Israeli border in recent days.
On Saturday, Israel’s army fired tear gas to disperse dozens of Lebanese demonstrators after they crossed the border protesting against the installation of spying equipment in their village, Mays al-Jabal.
Lebanon is still officially at war with Israel, and around 1,000 U.N. peacekeepers are deployed in the country’s south.
