A human rights lobby in the Country has appealed to the Government to embrace more diplomatic dialogue with other international organizations to ensure that the rights of refugees in the Country are not violated.
The lobby has also appealed to the Government to work out more serious plans to improve the Country’s security and not to blame it for the presence of refugees from Somali, Ethiopia, Burundi and other Country’s experiencing instability.
Francis Auma a human rights and law officer from the Haki Africa human rights organization in the Country, has termed the move by the government to forcefully repatriate Somali refugees back to their Country as a total violation of human rights.
“The government is a signatory to the United Nation treaties on Human rights, it should not try to solve this matter alone, let it involve other international diplomatic leaders” said Auma.
The human rights activist at the Coast has insisted that Somali is still a hot spot for violence and terror attacks, and sending back Women and children to the same war toned Country will be misguided move.
“If the move by the government to evict all refugees and close down Kakuma and Dadaab refugee camps the North Eastern will be realized then we will be violation human rights” noted Auma.
However as the world marked world refugee day on Monday 20th, the Jubilee government seem to be adamant about the reactions from civil society and insisted that Kakuma and Dadaab refugee camps have been the most country’s security threat.
In April this year, Interior Cabinet secretary Joseph Nkaissery said that the government has sufficient evidence that refugees have colluded with terrorist in threatening the country’s security.
