The Ghana Black Stars B team on Tuesday presented the WAFU Cup of Nations trophy to His Excellency Nana Akuffu Addo.
The team made up of players, technical team members headed by Coach Maxwell Konadu as well as Management members were at the flagstaff House to officially hand over the trophy to the first gentleman of the land.
Also in attendance was the President of the Ghana Football Association Kwesi Nyantakyi as well as the Sports Minister Hon Isaac Asiamah.
Ghana won the 2017 WAFU Cup of Nations after whitewashing rivals Nigeria 4-1 in the finals.
Striker Stephen Sarfo’s brace and a goal each from Vincent Atinga and Winful Cobbinah won Ghana the trophy at the Cape Coast Stadium.
President Nana Addo was thus handed a good welcome upon his return from a United Nations summit.
Meanwhile players of the Black Stars B team will be going home with US $1,500 each for winning the competition.
They could however have an increment in the reward package which was announced by the Sports Ministry prior to the start of the tournament.
The President also promised the team US$100,000 for winning the ultimate.
