Murang’a police have shot dead four armed suspected robbers who had raided the home of a teacher at Kabati, Kandara constituency.

The thugs had raided the home of Kenya National Union of Teachers ((KNUT) Murang’a County executive Secretary, Amos Murigi, with intent to steal and harm, police said.

Kandara OCPD Gregory Mutiso said the thugs were armed with machetes and pistols loaded with bullets.

However, Mutiso said one of the thugs managed to escape with bullet injuries during the incident.

He said the robbers entered Murigi’s home as he was opening the gate.

His wife however called a Nyumba Kumi official who then notified the police immediately.

Police arrived immediately and an exchange of fire ensued afterward, leading to the killing of the four thugs.

No police officer or family member was injured in the incident.

The police boss said bodies of said robbers were moved to Thika District Hospital mortuary.
