Former Super Eagles midfielder John Ene Okon has died at the age of 47.
Okon died on Tuesday March 15, which was his birthday.
Former teammates Etim John Esim and Emeka Ezeugo expressed their condolences.
The former Calabar Rovers midfielder was part of Nigeria’s squad in the 1987 FIFA World Youth Championship and the African Cup of Nations Senegal 1992 where Nigeria finished third.
The cause of his death could not be known at the time of this report
