Cape Town – A Boeing aircraft operated by FlySafair and carrying over 100 passengers has experienced a technical issue, forcing it to make an emergency landing on Thursday evening and affecting its flight schedule.
Acsa spokesperson Colin Naidoo confirmed the emergency landing incident, which took place at Port Elizabeth International Airport shortly after 20:30 on Thursday evening.
FlySafair posted a travel schedule update on its website and Facebook page stating,”FlySafair regrets to announce the cancellation of flight FA2305 from Port Elizabeth to Johannesburg due to a technical issue.”
“Passengers have been offered the option of re-accommodation on the next available flight, or a full refund. All passengers have been notified via SMS and are in contact with ground staff in Port Elizabeth.”
“While we hate to disappoint passengers by not fulfilling a scheduled flight, we will always hold the safety of our passengers and crew as our primary concern. “
The airline said it was working to ensure there were no further disruptions to its schedule. All emergency services were on standby at the airport and the plane landed safely.
