Fire in Saudi oil company apartment building kills 11

Eleven people were killed and 219 injured in an early morning blaze in a high-rise apartment building leased by Saudi oil company Aramco in the eastern city of Khobar, the country’s civil defence authority said.

Firefighters using ladders and backed up by planes evacuated residents from the building.

The injured were of various nationalities, the authority said, without giving further details.
