Fake Kenya Power Employee Arrested In Nakuru

Police in Nakuru County have arrested a fake electrician who has masqueraded as a Kenya Power Company employee.

Dancun Kimani was arrested after reports of illegal connections and distribution of electricity poles to locals contrary to the electricity Act were made in the Engashura area.

According to Njoroge Kariuki , an area resident, they have experienced a lot of fire cases mainly due to electricity fault and poor connections which have associated to the illegal connections

Kimani was found in possession of poles with Kenya Power seals and copper wires at his home worth Ksh. 500,000.

However Kimani, who appeared before Chief Magistrate Bernard Mararo on Thursday afternoon pleaded not guilty to the charges laid against him and claimed that he was framed.

In his mitigation he told the court that he is a father of two and the children are dependent on him and wanted the court to release him on reasonable bond terms.

The accused was later released on a bond of sh. 500,000 and surety of the same amount or an alternative cash bail of sh. 300,000 awaiting hearing of the matter on October 13.
