EX- PDP Chairman Denies Joining APC

A former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo, has denied media reports claiming that he has dumped the party for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Nwodo alongside some chieftains of the party from the South-east were reported to have joined the APC on Saturday in Enugu.

Notable among the defectors were the immediate past Minister of Labour and Productivity, Dr Emeka Wogu and former House of Representatives Speaker, Agunwa Anakwe.

Others are: Senators Emma Agboti, Chris Adighije, Nkechi Nwogu and Ifeanyi Ararume.

The former PDP heavyweights, who met in Enugu ,also pledged to work for the victory of the APC in the zone come 2019.

But Nwodo in a statement he personal signed on Monday, said despite the internal strife within the PDP, he still remains a member of the party.

He faulted the media for concluding that he has defected to the APC merely because his wife was present at a meeting that he was not.

He noted that his wife as an adult has her own political life.

He stated that as one of the founding fathers of PDP who has held the highest office in the party, he knows the statutory procedure of resigning and would willingly do that if necessary.

He urged his supporters across the country particularly in Enugu State to disregard the purported story as his political direction would not be hidden if the need arises.
