Outspoken Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has lashed out at President Muhammadu Buhari following his return to Nigeria on Sunday.
According to a Naij report, Fayose lambasted Buhari over his alleged harassment of officials from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) through persecution issued by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
While addressing journalists on Sunday, Fayose declared that his election was not funded publicly and that Buhari should reveal to the public how the election campaigns of All Progressives Congress (APC) officials were funded.
Fayose’s rant follows on from threats made by Buhari suggesting that an investigation will be conducted into his election campaign for governorship.
“Certain top functionaries of the Ekiti State government and some important members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, and some associates of mine, have now been pencilled down for arrest and indefinite detention by the EFCC under the guise of investigating the funds spent by the PDP on the June 21, 2014 governorship election and the Presidential election,” Fayose disclosed.
Fayose alleged that it was the game plan of Buhari’s administration to have officials from the opposition arrested through the EFCC and detained indefinitely, all while being forced to make incriminating statements against Fayose and secure his arrest in-turn.
The Ekiti State leader has since called on the EFCC to reveal why they have not investigated several petitions allegedly submitted against APC leaders, making particular mention of former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi.
Fayose had previously claimed that he could not be silenced, while stating that he is “from God”.
