Egypt rescues 27 tourists from stricken diving boat in Red Sea

Egyptian security forces on Thursday said they had rescued 27 French tourists and 10 crew members from a stricken diving boat in the Red Sea.

The boat issued a Mayday alert after suffering damage when it hit a coral reef during a diving trip between the resorts of Porto Ghalib and Marsa Alam, the interior ministry said.

Egypt’s Red Sea coast is famed for its diving opportunities, with clear waters and spectacular coral reefs teeming with marine life.
