A Narok based businessman was last evening shot dead by unknown people near laikipia university in Laikipia County.
Nyandarua North OCPD, Morris Assilah said Paul Muchendu was shot moments after arriving home at around 8 pm.
Assilah added that police have launched investigations into the matter but no suspect had been arrested.
He said they are trying to establish how the attackers knew the deceased was travelling from Narok to Nyumba Tatu village near the University, about 10 Kms from Nyahururu town.
Relatives who talked to the press said that the deceased was in the company of his wife when gunmen shot at their car and got him on the head.
His wife Agnes Ndung’u said they were already in the home compound when three gangsters emerged and shot at their vehicle.
Ndung’u added that they ordered him to open the car but he defied, prompting them to fire at him killing him instantly. They made away with KES 120,000 and other valuables.
“They escaped using a motor cycle that was waiting for them,” she said.
Residents have now demanded that more police officers be deployed in the area to curb the rising cases of insecurity.
