Corrected details of the appropriation bill is likely to be returned to President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday, Punch reports.
Sources within the National Assembly allegedly said that members of the committee chaired by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Suleiman Lasun worked all night on Thursday, as they tried to speed up the reworking of the budget’s details.
The deputy speaker and the other committee members slept at the secretariat on Thursday.
“They will likely sleep there today again (Friday) because their plan is to ensure that the budget details, as corrected, will reach President on Saturday,” one of the officials was quoted as saying.
This came after President Muhammadu Buhari and the leadership of the National Assembly set up technical committees on Wednesday, to look into the “grey areas” in the 2016 budget.
The two committees were expected to study the areas of dispute and come up with a “harmonized position” in a bid to fast track the signing of the N6.06 trillion budget.
