The Department of State Security (DSS) has exposed plans by some members of Boko Haram to join the Nigerian Army, Punch reports.
According to operatives at the DSS, two members of the sect were intercepted before their plans to become officers for the Army could be fulfilled.
Tony Opuiyo, DSS spokesperson, stated that the suspects had been arrested in Kano on Sunday following suspicions that one of the Boko Haram operatives had been trained as an explosives specialist in order to infiltrate security agencies in the country.
Opiuyo has since attributed the successful arrests to the service’s sustained tactical and counter-terrorism operations.
