A Kenyan bishop is entangled in KES 5.6 million theft which he allegedly obtained from two worshipers at his church.
The two female victims are alleged to have sent KES 4 million via M-Pesa and the remaining KES 1.6 million in cash between January and March.
According to The Star, the Bishop who pastors at United Hope World Reach Church had promised the women that he would drive away demons.
He now faces charges of obtaining money by false pretenses.
Kenyans have been targets of financial exploitation by rogue pastors who were soliciting for money in exchange for prayers via radio and TV until theCommunications Authority of Kenya (CAK) banned them.
The Attorney General also came up with a regulatory framework to protect Kenyans from preachers who exploit them commercially.
