The United Nations also hailed the award to the Tunisian group, stating that civil society actors have a key role to play in fostering peace.
“I congratulate the quartet, we need civil society to help us move peace processes forward,” says Ahmad Fawzi, spokesperson of the United Nations in Geneva.
“Tunisia is a brilliant example, one of the Arab countries that has done best since the uprisings in that part of the world,” he says in a first UN reaction.
The government and people of Tunisia also deserve congratulations, he adds.
