Hadiza Gabon, a Kannywood actress, has launched a lawsuit against a public servant named Bala Musa for alleged character defamation.
The turmoil between the two began in 2022, when Musa sued the actress for refusing to marry him.
Both parties came before a Shari’a court in Kaduna, where the complainant admitted to being in a relationship with the actress. He also said she had vowed to marry him.
Although the defendant did not appear in court, Mubarak Kabir, Gabon’s counsel, told the judge that his client was unsure of the summons’ validity.
He also prayed to the court to give him more time to produce his client in court.
According to NAN, Gabon filed a case against Musa on Wednesday in a magistrates’ court on Daura road in Kaduna.
Gabon’s counsel, Mubarak Sani, claimed his client had received unpleasant reactions and comments from the public as a result of the defendant’s baseless charges against her.
He went on to say that others, particularly on social media, were calling Gabon a liar who “refused to marry Musa after collecting his money.”
Musa, through his legal representative Naira Murtala, refuted the claim.
The chief magistrate, Shamsudeen Sulaiman, asked the complainant’s attorney if they had witnesses, and they said yes.
Sulaiman later granted bail to the defendant on the condition that he provide two reliable sureties who must be Kaduna residents and civil servants.
He rescheduled the case until November 15 to allow the complainant to introduce the witnesses.
