A Georgia deputy who was taking a walk during her lunch break averted a potential catastrophe. According to WSB-TV, Muscogee County Deputy Aliyah Miller came across a frightened lady threatening to jump into a river with her 2-month-old infant on August 16. The event took place on the Columbus River Walk.
The sheriff’s office and the Columbus Police Department both stated that they were initially notified about a lady making threats on Facebook Live. Miller and another officer eventually approached the woman and persuaded her to reconsider.
Miller was also able to take the infant from the woman while the other officer made plans to get her some help. The baby remained with Miller until the woman’s relative arrived, according to the sheriff’s office.
“I want to commend Deputy Miller, the Columbus Police Department, and Columbus Fire and EMS on a job well done! Thanks to your quick thinking and response time, they prevented a tragedy from occurring today. Your dedication to going above and beyond the call of duty is what we should all strive to achieve each and every day,” Sheriff Greg Countryman stated in a letter of commendation.
