40 Secondary School Students Detained After Destroying School Property In Zimbabwe

Forty (40) students from Gokomere High School were on Monday November 8, detained at Masvingo Central Police Station after being accused of destroying school property.

 

The students were accused of destroyed the dining hall window panes and the school head Acquanos Mazhunga’s vehicle during a protest. It is not yet clear what the students were protesting against.

 

They were however freed following the intervention of human rights lawyers. Giving an update on the matter, the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Right (ZLHR) wrote;

 

40 Gokomere College students who were taken from their school premises this morning have now been released following @ZLHRLawyers intervention. The OIC advised that if need be they will go after the “ring leaders”. The students were accused of staging a protest at school.
