Ooni of Ife Celebrates 44th Birthday in Style (photos)

Ile Ife, an ancient city in Nigeria, is said to be the cradle of the Yoruba race and the traditional ruler of the city is known as the Ooni.

The current Ooni, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, was born on October 17, 1974, and he recently clocked 44. To celebrate, he took majestic photos as he was surrounded by family and well-wishers.

The Ooni received his staff of office on December 7, 2015, after the death of the former ruler, late Oba Okunade Sijuwade, who died on July 28, 2015.

The Ooni is a very important personality among traditional rulers in the country and in fact is counted first among the Yoruba kings.

History has it that the first Ooni is a descendant of Oduduwa.

What many do not know is that Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi is a chartered accountant. The handsome monarch is a member of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria.
