A gathering of writers on Saturday gave foodstuffs and grouped things to youthful detainees at Bvumbwe Prison in Thyolo.

They prepared themselves through a WhatsApp visit for Mavume a Mlakatuli program, which Kenneth Khondiwa has each Friday evening on Matindi Television.

In a meeting, Khondiwa said their motion was propelled by challenges looked by jails in the nation.

“Specialists have a part to play in supporting those in require. We realize that a portion of our fans are in healing centers and penitentiaries and they require our help,” he said.

During the visit, some poets entertained the prisoners with performances.

They included Hudson Chamasowa and Joseph Madzedze aswell as musicians Levitiko and the Three Jews.

Chamasowa of the Zochitika ku Simongoliya fame said the initiative mirrors his belief in sharing the little he has.

Bvumbwe Prison officer- in-charge Evance Phiri thanked the artists for the donation.

“Others should emulate the example and prioritise prisons as we have limited resources,” he said.
