A Kenyan businessman, only identified as Njoroge has reportedly been arrested after he robbed Ugandan produce dealers maize worth 50 million Uganda shillings.
According to those who were robbed, the Kenyan businessman tricked them that he had money to buy their maize. He reportedly brought a truck registration number KVB 070H and loaded the maize at their store at Bulenga trading centre in central Uganda district of Wakiso.
” After loading he told us hat he was going to the bank for money and left behind the loaded lorry. When we left for lunch, he sneaked into his truck and drove off,” said Robert Senabulya, one of the 3 traders robbed.
Senabulya said that their workers at the store were not aware that he had not paid for the maize, so they left him to drive away.
They reported the case to police.
He said that after sometime, the truck was located in Busia town at the border with Kenya. Ugandan police impounded the vehicle and Njoroge who was driving it was arrested.
The lorry was later transferred to Bulenga police station in Wakisi disitrict where the offense had been committed.
