The Jigawa State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called for the impeachment of Governor Mohammad Badaru Abubakar for allowing the 27 local government councils caretaker committees to stay in office after end of their tenure.
The party called on the state’s legislators to exercise their constitutional right by impeaching the governor.
The call for the impeachment was contained in a press statement issued On Wednesday by the publicity secretary of the PDP in the state, Musa Abdullahi, after the party’s stakeholders meeting in Dutse.
The statement described the governor’s action as illegal and an impeachable offence.
The statement noted that the six months tenure of the caretaker committees as approved by the state Assembly had expired.
