The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has refuted reports of a split in the organisation, reports Thisday
The group said it remained united and strong in pursuing the cause of Biafra self-determination.
Some members of the group had on Wednesday announced that they are breaking away from the group to form a new organisation known as The Re-branded Indigenous People of Biafra (TRIPOB).
News 24 had reported that the spokesperson of the split group, Chima Osuji, stated that the decision to breakaway was made during an emergency meeting in Abia State.
Osuji that the new group would on October 1 burn the Biafran flag and would sing the Nigeria’s national anthem.
But the Head of Media and Publicity of IPOB, Emma Powerful, said the organisation under the leadership of Nnamdi Kanu, had not changed and the loyalty of members was not in doubt.
He said the only recognised IPOB is the one led by Kanu
Powerful blamed the insinuation of leadership crisis on Dr. Dozie Ikedife of Bilie human rights group, who had some time ago, claimed that he was the leader of IPOB even when he did not know how the organisation was formed by Kanu.
