Nigerian Bar Association Warns President Buhari Against Fighting Corruption With Corruption

The Nigerian Bar Association has warned President Muhammadu Buhari that the Federal Government’s war on corruption should be in line with the law, Punch reports.

NBA President, Augustine Alegeh said Sunday night that FG could not fight corruption by using backhanded tactics as would mean using graft to fight graft.

Alegeh confirmed the NBA’s standing along the Federal Government’s stance in fighting corruption but warned that it would not support the act of taking what belonged to one man to give to another man.

“Any attempt to fight corruption with backhand tactics will mean using corruption to fight corruption. If the fight against corruption is to collect what belongs to one man and give it to another man, then count us, the NBA out,” Alegeh said.

He also criticised the conflicting judgments handed down by the judiciary on similar matters saying that the NBA was left embarrassed by the developments.
