The former Governor of Adamawa State, Umaru Fintiri, has been granted bail by the Federal High Court in Abuja to the tune of N500million,Vanguard reports.
Fintiri was on Thursday remanded in prison over five counts of money laundering charges involving about N1.9bn preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
In a ruling delivered by trial Justice Ahmed Mohammed, the court also ordered the former governor to produce two sureties in the like sum.
The court stressed that the sureties must not only own landed properties within Abuja worth the bail sum, but must also submit their passport photographs.
Justice Mohammed ordered the sureties to deposit the title documents of the properties to the Deputy Registrar of the court.

Fintiri was send to prison over five counts of money laundering charges involving about N1.9bn preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Justice Ahmed Mohammed made the order after Fintiri pleaded not guilty to all the five counts on Thursday.
The EFCC arraigned Fintiri along with Mayim Constructions and Properties Limited (the second defendant).
Shortly after Fintiri pleaded not guilty to all the charges, the court heard his bail application but adjourned till Friday to deliver its ruling on it.
