Despite continued threats of violence by the Niger Delta Avengers, the Federal Government has undertaken to repair the Nigeria Gas Company pipeline in Niger Delta, Vanguard reports.
The Avengers have ordered FG to not repair any previously blown up oil pipelines during the period of conciliation for dialogue between the two parties, or face a resumption of hostilities.
The Avengers have said that they will continue all their activities of vandalism if the government does not adhere to what they call modest requests, while dialogue continues.
The requests, which include not buying crude oil, have been labelled as totally unreasonable by commentators as the Nigerian economy relies heavily on the country’s oil sector.
