A Murang’a Member of County Assembly (MCA) has died after suffering breathing complications.
Peter Kariuki, who was nominated to represent Persons living With Disabilities (PWD) died at Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi Sunday.
In his condolence message, Governor Mwangi wa Iria said the deceased was working closely with the County Government to address the plight of PWDs through a series of empowerment programs.
“These programs include giving artificial aids such as offering wheel chairs, walking clutches, hearing aids among others to persons with special needs.
More than 3,000 persons have benefited under this program, with Hon. Kariuki playing a pivotal role towards this,” said the Governor.
He said the County Government will continue advancing Kariuki’s activities in making the lives of persons with disabilities better.
The Nyeri representative of PWDs, Joseph Kanyi said Kariuki was a great advocate for the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities, not only in Murang’a but the region at large.
