Shock has gripped residents of Gatheru village in Maragua constituency, Murang’a County, after unknown assailant killed a woman and injured her two children at night.
Ann Wairimu, 43, was murdered at around 7.30 pm by a single assailant who later disappeared, neighbours said.
They added that one of Wairimu’s daughters, who sustained injuries on the back and limbs took her mother’s phone and informed them that they had been attacked.
Area chief, John Macharia said the assailant is believed to have accessed the woman’s mud-walled house by poking a hole from behind and waited for her and her children to return home where he attacked them.
The chief urged residents to remain calm as police investigate the matter although no arrests have been made.
The woman’s body was taken to Murang’a Hospital mortuary
