Ngunjiri Did Nothing Wrong, Nakuru MP Says

Two Nakuru MPs have come to the rescue of their colleague who is accused of peddling hate speech against a community living in Nakuru.

Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama and his Nakuru Town East MP David Gikaria said that Kimani Ngunjiri did nothing wrong on Saturday when opposition leader Raila Odinga visited the County.

Ngunjiri is been accused of leading rowdy youths to storm the hotel where Raila was having a meeting with his supporters. He is also alleged to have called for the eviction of Luos from Nakuru.

Speaking to the press on Monday, however, Gikaria and Arama said Ngunjiri was in fact the one who quelled tension after the youths vowed to attack Raila.

“Ngunjiri is the one who rescued Raila from the rowdy youth. He went to the hotel and found the angry youths but urged them to cool down. They listened,” Gikaria said.

“Most of those rowdy youths Ngunjiri is accused of leading were in fact ODM supporters who wanted to cause chaos due to party differences,” Arama.

Ngunjiri said he has nothing against members of the Luo community and was calling for armed youths who had ‘apparently’ been ferried to the town to leave.
