A man has been arraigned in a Nanyuki court for attempting to kill his girlfriend.
Hassan Mohammed appeared before Chief Magistrate Lucy Mutai, charged that on June 9, 2016 at Majengo village in Laikipia County, he stabbed his girlfriend, Margaret Wanjiku.
The court heard that on that day at around 8.00pm, the accused went to the house of his girlfriend where a quarrel ensued.
He then picked a knife and stabbed the woman then escaped to an unknown destination.
He however denied the charges and was remanded in police custody.
Mary Wanjiru, mother to the girl, told court that she was heading towards home from work when she found her daughter being taken to hospital.
When the Good Samaritans told her what had happened, she took her daughter to Nanyuki Teaching and Referral hospital before reporting the matter to Nanyuki police station.
The following day, the accused was was arrested at Majengo and escorted to police station, where he was charged with the offence and later arraigned in court where he denied the charges.
The case was adjourned until July 11, when the hearing continues.
