APC Dismisses Governor Nyesom Wike’s Term As Disastrous

The Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has alleged more than 500 people have been killed following violence that has beset the state a year into Governor Nyesom Wike’s tenure.

The party thus described Wike’s tenure as a disaster foretold, dismissing his administration as a “One Chance Government.”

“Everyday people are beheaded; buried alive or entire families are wiped out. At the last count, over 500 innocent Rivers residents have been sent to their early graves,” Davies Ikanya, APC Rivers Chairman, said.

“Today, Rivers State under Wike’s watch is termed as Rivers of blood where kidnappers, militancy assassins, cultism, robbers not only hold sway but are empowered through patronage.”

Ikanya lamented the “cruel fate” that has befallen the state, lamenting that Rivers “never had it so bad since its creation in 1967.”

“Wike’s case is like a ‘one chance bus’ where governance is praticised as a deceitful venture.”

Ikanya said within one year in office, Wike had borrowed over N100 billion from the banks, the highest by any State Government in Nigeria so far.

He said this excluded the billions left by the Amaechi Administration, the over N250 billion that had accrued to the state from the national allocation and over N30 billion internally generated revenue.

“The question is, what has Wike used all these resources to achieve for the State?”

Ikanya said Wike’s performance in several other aspects of the lives of Rivers people had been woeful.

“Till today, Wike’s administration has no concrete policies on Agriculture, Education, Industrial Development, Manufacturing, Tourism, Employment Generation and State Security. This man is a total disaster.”
