KNUT Secretary General Wilson Sossion has called the ongoing protests against the IEBC by CORD as disruptive and unhelpful.
The KNUT Secretary, speaking Wednesday to News24 said that the protests have caused disruptions to students and learning in schools all over the country and urged the CORD leader Raila Odinga to end them.
He criticised the move to hold demonstrations around the country as short sighted and called on the CORD leadership to seek other solutions to the problems at hand.
” The protests, as much as they are the right of CORD supporters have been disruptive to Kenyans and surely must be ended,” he said.
He stated that the shooting of a 6 year old boy in Kisumu by Police showed the extent to which the protests had affected normal life.
” A 6 year old boy should have been in school but that was not the case because they had been closed,” he added.
The CORD Coalition says it will increase protests to twice a week from next week to force through changes to the IEBC as the government continues to insist that the process be carried through Parliament and not structured talks.
The protests have thus led to riots and closure of roads as well as destruction of businesses as the protests take centre stage.
