Staffers of Kenya’s national carrier Kenya Airways are under investigation for allegedly helping an ISIS suspect secure travel documentation.
The Daily Nation reported that Nuseibah Mohammed, alias Ummu Fidaa, a medical student police linked to a planned biological terror attack using anthrax, was helped by Kenya Airways staffers to secure much needed travel documents to Kigali Rwanda.
The help included interference with the airline’s systems and data, it was reported.
Kenyan Police believe that Fidaa is a member of the Islamic State terror group (ISIS) and allege that she was found in possession of articles connected with the commission of terrorism. She is also accused of soliciting support for the terror network on Social media platforms.
Nairobi News further reported that the suspect, who holds a Kenyan passport was arrested on May 1 at the Entebbe International Airport in Uganda and later brought to Kenya.
Her husband, who is also a medic, the report further states, is under arrest and has been detained for 30 days with a mention set for June 9 when he is expected to be similarly charged.
She will be held at the Kenyan Anti Terror Agency headquarters until the next mention of her case arrives.
ISIS is said to be seeking a stronghold in the African continent especially after its success in gaining a place in Libya where it has gained a footing.
Foreign Policy experts believe that the anthrax attack plot is a further sign of ISIS’ plans to move into Sub- Saharan Africa.
