The government has banned all protests against the IEBC, the interior ministry said on Tuesday, after an escalation of violence at the rallies held every Monday since early April.
“To avert further violence, destruction of property and loss of life, from today, the government prohibits all unlawful demonstrations in the country,” a ministry statement said.
Protesters are demanding that the government sack senior Electoral Commission officials, who they accuse of incompetence and bias.
