Kanu’s Secretary General Nick Salat will now face disciplinary action after he appeared alongside opposition leaders at Uhuru Park for the parallel Madaraka Day Ceremony.
Salat who has on several occasions attended meetings called by the opposition Chief Raila Odinga and even participated in protests against the electoral agency, Wednesday sat alongside top CORD leaders at Uhuru Park in Nairobi.
West Pokot Senator John Lonyangapuo censured the Kanu official for appearing at the rally led by Raila and Senate Minority leader Moses Wetang’ula.
“ KANU stands for PEACE, LOVE and UNITY. We don’t believe in confrontational Politics at all. We in KANU want IEBC reformed before 2017 elections but we are not in agreement with some of the techniques being applied by the official opposition CORD,” said Lonyapuo.
“Whatever position being advanced by Mr Salat in CORD Rallies, is strictly his personal drive and not the party position. KANU party top organ will soon meet to discuss the unbecoming conduct of Salat,” he said.
