A Kenyan blogger is facing possible arrest after he claimed that the country’s vice president had collapsed and been rushed to hospital.

Police sources told News24 that they were planning to arrest Robert Alai for stating on his Twitter handle that President Uhuru’s Kenyatta’s deputy had collapsed and been rushed to hospital.

The blogger made the claims on Thursday morning, saying that Ruto had collapsed and been rushed to the high end Nairobi Hospital for treatment on Wednesday evening.

Seems like someone Very Very Important (VVIP) has been rushed to Nairobi Hospital. High end vehicles and.

Reports indicated that the deputy president was actually in the country’s north eastern province where he was currently on a three day tour with Kenyatta and was in good health.

“The matter caused a lot of tension and anxiety among members of the public. It was untrue and misuse of a social media account and action will be taken,” the police source said.

In what seemed like a retraction later though, Nairobi News reported that the blogger seemed to allude to the fact that he might have been let down by his sources.

The controversial blogger was not new to cases of alleged social media misuse and had been arrested and charged before.

The Standard reported earlier this year that Alai was been ordered to appear before the police to explain some of his social media postings that amounted to hate speech.
