President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto have formed a committee to help them poach leaders from the opposition ahead of the 2017 General Elections.
The Committee, News24 has been told, will seek to form agreements with leaders from the opposition to either join the Jubilee Party before or after the 2017 General Elections.
Those that will join before will be promised high ranking positions after the polls while others will be offered direct nomination to compete for seats using the Jubilee ticket as well as other goodies.
The Committee will be led by three prominent personalities.
Solicitor-General Njee Muturi is said to be heading the committee.
Also in it are Alfred Getonga who was in the past a personal secretary to President Mwai Kibaki and DP Ruto’s aide Reuben Maiyo.
” The team is already working on a structure to begin working. The committee has alot of work to do in the coming months,” a source told News24.
The team will seek to woo those leaders who it feels are seeking a new challenge or a different way of doing things from the opposition and will be especially keen on those areas it feels it can split the votes such as Western Kenya, the Coast and Eastern.
The will operate in the realms of the new Jubilee Party.
