Cyrus Jirongo In Trouble For Linking DP Ruto To Jacob Juma’s Murder

Former presidential aspirant and MP, Cyrus Jirongo is in trouble after dragging the name of Deputy President William Ruto into the brutal killing of controversial businessman Jacob Juma.

Hours after Jirongo, a wealthy businessman claimed during Juma’s requiem mass on Thursday that the Deputy President had differences with deceased, Ruto said the former Lugari MP will be held liable for defaming him.

Jirongo in the mass at All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi told shocked mourners that the late Juma slapped the Deputy President sometime back, and  sensationally insisted that investigations must start at that point.

But Ruto through his lawyer Thursday evening distanced himself from the claims which he noted were unjustified. He pointed out that the Deputy President has never had any physical contact with the late Juma.

“William Ruto is categorical that he never had any physical contact with the late Jacob Juma and the allegation that the deceased slapped him could therefore never have arisen,” reads the statement sent to newsrooms Thursday.

“We are reviewing the full transcripts of the reckless, malicious and defamatory statements made at the memorial of the late Juma by Mr Jirongo and others,” he added.

Ruto’s lawyer warned anyone that will continue sharing the information with dire consequences.

“Given the potentially defamatory character of the narrative aforesaid, it follows that parties that perpetuate the dissemination, publication or circulation of this narrative will not escape legal culpability.”
