Residents of Karandi location, Laikipia County are grieving the terrible death of 3 minors that sank on Tuesday night.
The trio, all aged 12 were on a swimming exploration at Kanyuka Dam in the location when they met their death.
According to residents, they had been sent by their grandfather to take their cows to the dip and then graze them when they decided to go swimming.
They further claim that two of the boys drowned while trying to save the first boy to drown, while a young girl who had accompanied them watched.
According to the children’s grandmother, Anne Mugure, the three have never gone out swimming and they were wondering what might have prompted them to this time.
“We rushed to the scene and found them swimming at the deep end of the dam. Their bodies could not be traced,” she said.
Laikipia woman MP, Jane Apollos who went to console the family regretted the incident, emphasizing the need to fence the dam.
