Opposition leader, Raila Odinga has taken over responsibilities of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy, William Ruto at the ongoing devolution meeting in Meru.
Raila will be addressing delegates as the meeting ends today, following invitation by Council of Governors (CoG) chair Peter Munya.
Standard reports that President Uhuru Kenyatta, his deputy William Ruto, MPs and Senators snubbed the event that brought together over 6,000 delegates.
The President was to open the conference while his deputy was expected to close it, but Daily Nation reports that the two leaders appointed Devolution Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri and Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa to represent them respectively.
The devolution conference kicked off Wednesday and ends today with Raila Odinga’s address.
