The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a former Special Assistant on Domestic Affairs to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan while attempting to leave the country.
Waripamowei Dudafa was arrested at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.
Quoting a source at the EFCC, a Premium Times report said Dudafa was on the anti-graft agency’s wanted list.
He was allegedly involved in the sharing of N10bn to delegates during the December 2014 presidential primaries of the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
It was believed that the money was part of the alleged $2.1billion meant for the purchase of arms.
Punch reported that the money was diverted by the Office of the National Security Adviser from a Signature Bonus Account in the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The N10bn was believed to have been diverted from oil receipts as follows: $5m (November 14,2014); $47m (November 27, 2014); €4m (December 3, 2014) and €1.6m(December 24, 2014), the report stated.
